![]() He seemed the natural part to continue this character arc for Aloy (with at the very least a single conversation after he joined her or something), since the other characters who were upset about Aloy’s aloof nature either only expressed it with a momentary hurt and move on (Petra perhaps comes to mind, or Avad if you Fist dialogue him), or a mild comment here and there about it (Varl a few times that I can recall).Īfter that, Erend barely has anything to say on what’s going on, and it almost felt he had dialogue cut or something. The excellent tension between Aloy and Erend completely disappeared, and they don’t ever talk about him being upset about her leaving. His scenes in the Daunt were perfect - seeing how Erend has been hurt by Aloy ghosting everyone, feeding into the heavy-handed theme of Aloy needing to learn to accept support from her friends.īut after Aloy finally makes it West… what happened? ![]() However, now that I’ve completed the game I’m… pretty disappointed with how they handled him? He felt like the weakest character of Aloy’s crew. Naturally, I was ecstatic to have him return in HFW. ![]() (And the notable humbling of him from acting like a hotshot flirting with Aloy in his first scene to realizing Aloy was way out of his league at the end.) ![]() Loved his character arc, with his vulnerabilities and flaws, and how it concluded at the end - with him learning to grow more responsible and take Ersa’s place and straighten himself up from the drinking problem he got from wallowing in grief with Aloy’s help. In HZD Erend was hands down my favorite character. ![]()
